Welcome to Ithunga Development Online.
Ithunga Development was founded in January 2002 and officially registered as a Non- Profit Organization in January 2005 primarily for the purpose of community and youth development with the view to mitigate the effects of unemployment in rural and peri- urban areas. Ithunga Development operates at grassroots level, incorporating community stakeholders to best leverage Government and Corporate resources. We are passionate about empowering people to realise the results of their potential and to create employment through skills development and training.
Ithunga Development has primary accreditation with AGRISETA in National Certificate: Plant Production NQF level 2 and National Certificate: Mixed Farming Systems NQF level 1& 2 (Accr. No AGRI/c prov0317/11) and has subsidiary companies accredited with ETDPSETA, LGSETA, SERVICESSETA and FPMSETA.
Ithunga has implemented Expanded Public Work Programme (EPWP) under Independent Development Trust (IDT) from 2009 to 2017 and CWP as a PIA under the Department of Cooperate Governance and Traditional Affairs managing 5000 beneficiaries in 5 local Municipalities in the KZN Province. Currently in a consortium with Aids Foundation of South Africa we are implementing CWP in Western Cape managing 8000 participants in 14 Local Municipalities.
As an accredited service provider we have trained and issued certificates to plus 5000 Learners on both accredited and no- accredited courses since 2009. We have four ongoing contracts on the following projects: KZNDAC arts development project in partnership with Ndwedwe LM 20182021; Cogta CWP in Western Cape 2018-2021, National Skills Fund training of 100 learners in cooperatives in partnership with Enterprise ILembe 2018-2020, Youth Skills Development programme in partnership with KZNDSD 2018-2020.
We pride ourselves to be associated with Durban University of Technology with which we have an open ended MOU in the area of training and skills development under their Cooperative Education wing and we are currently working with 4 interns from this institution through our partnership.
